Since 1993, when the United Nations General Assembly designated 22 March 1993 as the first World Water Day, it has been celebrated annually across the globe.
As fresh waterways are more and more contaminated by human deeds and diminish due to climate change, access to clean water has become a massive issue, both in third-world and developed nations. Globally around 37 million people die annually from water-borne diseases due to lack of clean water and hygienic sanitation.
This year’s World Water Day Global Meditation theme is Bless the Water. While thousands of people in communities across the globe generally hold ceremonies at sacred water sites on World Water Day, Uplift, Unify, Shift Network, and others are taking things to a new level this year via another Globally Synchronised Meditation as well as other actions to bless and protect the water.
Bless the Water will be offering a special guided meditation and the FREE world premiere of the new film ‘Water is Sacred’ which will be broadcast from the banks of the Sacred Ganges River in Rishikesh, India. The meditation will begin with a blessing of the water and will continue with restoring, replenishing and cleansing the World’s Water. Uplift is asking that as many people who can join them online for the global blessing of the world’s water.
There are World Water Day events planned across the globe, so again, “What Are You Doing on World Water Day?â€
You can participate in the global World Water Day movement by visiting the Water Bearers website, or hosting/attending and event in your own area. You can go to the Bless the Water website to read more and to either find an event in your area or create an event that others can join.
We all need to do as much as we can to protect our drinking water resources and ensure that there will be sufficient water for all of us in the future, so if you are a spiritual person who cares about the planet and our drinking water, the why not join in on the Bless the Water effort on World Water Day in conjunction to any other efforts you are doing to save our water?
