It is said that humans will be the destruction of themselves, by bringing voluntary destruction to the earth.
This couldn’t be closer to the truth. Humans are considered the number one cause of water pollution, along with every other pollution on earth.
This was also seen by my very own eyes, as I sat on the beach in Cape Town during the start of spring, and saw a boy throw a big broken plastic bucket between a big set of rocks, which was then washed into the ocean. Standing beside him, was his father who did absolutely nothing about the bucket that might be swallowed by an animal or constrict one in some way that very day.
On the beach, there was also a lot of plastic spread out where the waves met the higher banks of the sand during a windy evening in the week.
People are the problem.
Unless you think that water pollution isn’t around the corner from where your home or isn’t being displayed on your nearest beach. Think again.
The causes of pollution
Humans can bring an end to water pollution. If we all worked together and disciplined ourselves, and our children, we could bring an end to this massive problem without a doubt.
As a major contributor, which has a negative effect on the well-being and health of animals, ecosystems, and plants, as well as human beings, water pollution is more serious than society thinks it to be.
Luckily, around the world, people are forming small groups or organizations and initiatives that work towards help clean up their country’s beaches but imagine if it just stopped altogether.
Something as simple as littering miles away from a beach or river, could eventually end up in the ocean, and what does plastic, glass or any other material mean for the ocean?
Contamination. It may cause the ocean to become poisonous and has already caused the death of millions of animals all around the world.
Help fight water pollution today and be the difference.
