Where Do Your Herbs, Protein Powders and Superfoods Come From?Do you know where your herbs, protein powders and superfoods come from? Most of us try to live a healthy lifestyle, and that includes the food that we eat and what we drink, but is your “health food” really healthy or does it contain toxins that you are unaware of?

Like most other things that we buy these days, it seems that many of the herbs and other “health supplements” that we are buying originate in China. This is not good news for those of us that are attempting to live healthy lives, and may be even worse for those who have impaired immune systems due to illness or other problems.

These concerns come about due to the fact that China has a bad reputation of being the world’s worst polluting country, and this includes the quality of the its drinking water. According to the Ministry of Land and Resources, in excess of 60% of the groundwater in China is too polluted to drink.

The water contains unacceptable levels of contaminants, making the water either “relatively poor” or “very poor” on the safety scale; relatively poor water can be used as drinking water once treated but very poor water may not be used as drinking water under any circumstances.

China’s rapid industrialisation, gradual takeover of American industry, and subsequent economic successes has led to the country paying a very high price in the form of massive environmental pollution.

Water was also monitored in a few thousand different rural areas, and findings are that the water in these areas is also polluted. As much as 16 % of China’s total land area is critically polluted, and in excess of 20% of Chinese farmland is polluted with heavy metals such as cadmium, which are turning up in various protein powders, superfoods, dietary supplements, and other products. Many of the herbal and dietary supplements that you are buying are produced in China, which means you are eating or drinking these toxins too.

Many vitamin C products labelled with names like ascorbic acid or sodium ascorbate are manufactured in China, as are various products that contain brown rice protein, which is scary as according to a report by The Epoch Times, “China’s top vitamin and supplement production areas are among the most polluted in the country (and thus in the world).”  Even if you do not take vitamins or supplements, you may still be ingesting these toxins as that many of the synthetic vitamins added to conventional cereals and other foods come from China.
