What's With All These “Healthy” Waters?I went shopping the other day and a friend asked me to pick up a few litres of bottled water for her; she still believes that drinking bottled water is better for her… or maybe it just tastes better, I don’t know, but I must say that I have never been so confused in my life.

It sounds like a pretty simple request, to pick up a few bottles of water, but no siree, it is not! Firstly, there are about twelve different brands of water on the shelf, and then there is still water and sparkling water, but that is not the end of it by any means.

What’s With All These “Healthy” Waters?

The shelves are stocked with a myriad of different flavoured waters and so-called healthy water, vitamin enriched water, herbal water, mineral water, and more…

There is water that is oxygenated; water that contains fibre; water that is chock full of vitamins; water that has added nutrients; water that has added fibre, and a whole host of others.

HELP!! When did good old H2O get so complicated? I swear, I stood in front of those shelves for about ten minutes trying to decide whether she would like water that contained 20 different fruits; why not just drink fruit juice? Maybe she wanted water that came from the Alps and contained ‘enhancing elements’ but what exactly they were supposed to enhance I had no idea.

In the end I just got her a couple of litres of plain sparkling water as I know that she often drinks soda water so I thought that was the closest, but I also told her that I thought it was all a huge waste of money and that she could get her own bottled water in future.

I am sorry but I will never waste money on bottled water; it is the most ludicrous thing I have ever heard of in my life. I too am not fond of the taste of the water that comes out of my tap, and of course it is never chilled when one needs it to be on a hot summer day or when you have just come back from a run, but I resolved that problem years ago by investing in water coolers. I now have chilled, ambient or hot water at the touch of a button whenever I want and it tastes great too! Maybe I should introduce my friend to Living-Water so that she can get herself a water cooler too.
