While many might think that pure water is just a more natural form of water, it is actually derived from a water source that has undergone a process to remove all its existing impurities. So, even though natural water sounds better, the health factor tends to lean much more towards the pure water type.
Although there are many forms of pure water, the most common and popular is distilled water.
How is water purified?
When water has to be purified, it goes through a process referred to as carbon filtration. Carbon filtration is a microporous filtration process that in addition is put through a process called ultraviolet oxidation. In most cases, more than one purification process is used and sometimes combined with others in order to create the most purified water.
Pure water is mostly used when cooking, drinking and in some cases, in both laboratories and scientific studies to furthermore test is and better the process.
Two Different types of purified water
- Distilled water – Sold as bottled water, produced by distillation, distilled water is first boiled, followed by its steam that is condensed into a clean, sanitary container where any contamination is eliminated. In this case, the reservoir must be 100% sterilized in order to guarantee a complete bacteria-free product for sale.
- Deionized water – Similar to distilled water, deionized water is a slightly different and much cheaper version. It has been stripped out of all its minerals, all of which includes ions, calcium, iron and copper. Its process includes an ion exchange that allows for the removal of all its mineral salts. This process is a much cheaper way than carbon filtration and still allows for purified water.
Purified water is sold as bottled water and is preferred over tap water. It is also used for animals to drink, as well as in Aquariums as it is healthier for fish, it is more preferred at car washes as it doesn’t leave any spots after a wash and because it is free of chemicals, also used in vehicles.
