Gradiant Energy Services (GES), an oilfield services company specialising in oilfield water solutions, has introduced a bacteria disinfection product line, Free Radical Disinfection (FRDâ„¢). This is a bacteria treatment solution that disinfects bacteria and treats water for storage pit maintenance, on-the-fly disinfection prior to hydraulic fracturing operations and pre-salt water disposal (SWD) injection.
Quality control is a critical step in any water treatment service, and this safe, green technology treatment unit can be utilised in various methods, known as a ‘short kill’ and a ‘long kill,’ or a combination of the two. GES is set up extensively for accurate quality control and assurance during this process.
Danny Jimenez, Chief Executive Officer of Gradiant Energy Services, says: “Our customers are very interested in the economics and environmental benefits of our FRD technology. Unlike competing technologies, FRD combines our unique chemistry application with salt to remove bacteria, eliminating the risk, cost and transportation associated with use of hazardous biocides, such as chlorine dioxide or any chemical-based biocide that requires potentially harmful chemicals to be physically transported on and off the site.”
While this technology is meant for use at fracturing sites to resolve the presence of bacteria, which can lead to reservoir souring, increased maintenance and operating costs, this is actually also good news for drinking water in areas where fracking occurs too.
The FRD technology is portable, which makes it the ideal solution for projects that require water to be disinfected for use in hydraulic fracturing and pre-saltwater disposal injection. This is good news for those oil and gas companies that face water scarcity, disposal restrictions and high transportation costs.
Gradiant Energy Services is intent on continuously improving and creating innovating water treatment technologies that are required by various industrial applications in order to help save water and improve the quality of water after use in these industrial applications.
