Consuming an adequate amount of water on a consistent basis is one of the foundational tenets of sound health, and it occupies the very first position on the list. The majority of people, in my opinion, struggle with this one as well due to the fact that they find drinking water to be tedious and would much rather consume something else to quench their thirst.
Unfortunately, if you do not consume an adequate amount of water on a regular basis throughout the day, you are not doing your body any favours and may even be doing it harm. To perform at its best, the body requires water, and specifically water; other beverages, such as tea and coffee, as well as carbonated drinks, cannot substitute for good old-fashioned H20.
A study that was conducted not too long ago in the United Kingdom found that an astounding 89 percent of the population does not drink nearly enough water on a regular basis to maintain healthy levels of hydration. In the course of the interviews, approximately twenty percent of the men and thirteen percent of the women admitted that they do not consume any water at all.
When we lose just 2% of the water that makes up our bodies, we start to feel the effects of dehydration, and the longer we go without replacing the fluids that we’ve already lost, the more dehydrated we become. A state of chronic dehydration not only results in decreased function of the body and the mind, but it can also create a wide range of major health problems.
If you are one of those people who believes that water is uninteresting, then you should try adding some fruit to your water; you and your family, especially your children, will enjoy it.
You could try adding some of the following ingredients to a jug of water from your water cooler, or you could just add one or two slices of each ingredient directly to a glass of lovely chilled water: cucumber, mint, lemon, lime, and basil
- Blueberry and Lavender
- Cantaloupe topped with honey, mint, cilantro, and lime juice, along with lime juice and cucumber
- Raspberry with honeydew melon
- Cucumber and New Zealand Kiwi
- Raspberry, rose petal, and vanilla mango and lime orange and blueberry raspberry and rose petal vanilla
- Grapefruit and rosemary Strawberry, lemon, and basil Rosemary and grapefruit
- Lime, Strawberry, and Cucumber are the flavours.
- Watermelon with a Touch of Mint Watermelon and Mint Coconut
Before you consume the water, filter it if it comes into contact with any pips or petals. These infused drinks not only look wonderful but also taste fantastic, which will inspire you to drink more water, and they will also encourage others to drink more water.
