Gaza – A region in Israel known for its war, suppression and extremely guarded security soldiers, is currently experiencing a severe water crisis. Since news broke about this water struggle, the world looks over their shoulders to Israel and wonders, what about the people living inside of Gaza? Will Israel face the same problem, and will they be able to help Gaza, willingly?
The regions’ water system is currently on the verge of falling apart, which could turn into an epidemic for the entire country.
While most Israelis are believed to not care about Gaza, they would surely have to do something about the problem, should they be affected by it as well.
People are suffering on this very day, and nothing is being done about it. Thousands of refugees living in Gaza barely have access to any water at all. What’s worse is, they cannot leave Gaza to seek water elsewhere.
Water scarcity – A side-effect of three wars
After enduring three wars, an economic meltdown, a clash between Israel and Hamas and just about anything you could think to go wrong, due to a lack of adequate water supply, doctors in Gaza believe that there will be an outbreak of different epidemic diseases.
It is due to 97% of all water supply from Gaza’s wells, which are entirely unfit for consumption. To worsen matters, there is currently seawater leaking into the water pump location. There is also insufficient electricity to sustain the sewage plant, which adds to more problems related to pollution. Gaza’s water crisis is thus adding to the pollution in the Mediterranean Sea.
Without an intervention to fix the water supply, along with the electricity in Gaza, many people will die, there will be an outbreak of disease, which will also affect Israel, and pollution will continue to increase in the Mediterranean Sea.
By 2020, it is predicted that Gaza will not be liveable for any form of life, and most certainly not humans.
