How Does Direct Chill Technology Work?
Direct chill technology is a very effective way of chilling water very rapidly. The main advantage the direct chill system has over other systems is that the water is never still; it continuously flows throughout the system. This keeps the water constantly cool and also prohibits bacterial proliferation which is a huge problem with other cooling systems.
In a direct chill water cooler, the water passes through a stainless-steel coil that is in contact with a copper evaporator coil that contains refrigerant gas.
The direct chill system works by conduction; the cold emitted by the refrigerant gas is transferred into the coil through which the water is flowing but does not touch the water, which in turn becomes icily chilled.
