Water serves as the most valuable resource on the planet and is required to sustain all life. As water scarcity increases, so do the conflict, surrounding who gets clean water and who doesn’t.
If water is a basic human right, then millions of people’s basic human rights and needs are currently not being met. As the conflict regarding it increases, so does the number of diseases and death in the world, especially in non-developed countries/ third world countries, such as Africa, South America, and the Middle East.
Since water scarcity can be a leading cause of war within the next century as the world population continues to grow, it has become more important than ever before to protect, sustain, and most importantly, restore water as a resource for living species.
Water Can Improve the Entire World
When people think of one resource that can improve the world, it’s money. The first thought that most people have, isn’t water, but money.
Considering that governments who lack money to pay for their countries’ infrastructure and clean water and sanitation supply are on the incline, governments require money to survive. However, when they do receive money, it must be used to sustain their countries’ current water resources and find a way to provide access to all residents living in their country.
If every country did this, their residents wouldn’t suffer, especially throughout Africa and South America, which currently lacks the most supply of clean water in the entire world.
By improving water quality, governments will be able to improve their country’s wellbeing, reduce death and disease, reduce conflict, increase food production, improve school attendance, improve the lives of poor communities, reduce pollution for all different types of water bodies, improve the biggest issue the world face today which is climate change, as well as protect the world’s biodiversity.
