What is a water cooler?

The two main kinds of water coolers that you can expect to find nowadays are bottled water coolers and mains fed water coolers. Bottled water coolers are reliant on a bottle of water that acts as the water supply. Pressing a button will draw water from the bottle. Mains fed water coolers are generally hooked to a tap or faucet fixture and draw water from your mains water supply.

There is no fixed criterion that determines which type of water cooler is the better option. Rather, it is based on where you plan to use the water cooler and what level of demand is placed on the unit. In a very large office or public facility, you may find that a mains fed water cooler is more economical as overwhelming demand on your water cooler can be easily sustained. A bottled water cooler system in the same situation however will have to be refilled fairly often and this might prove costly, depending on your supplier.

Water coolers can operate for fairly long durations before the filter needs to be replaced. If treated carefully, water coolers can last many years before any faults can occur. Common faults can include loss of power, blocked filters and leaking due to worn out seals etc.
What additional features can water coolers have?
The most common features that the more expensive water coolers have are the ability to not only cool water, but to dispense boiling water too. This can prove useful when making coffee in the office and removes the need to have a kettle or coffee machine as well. Water coolers can also feature such things as a cup dispenser, bottle cover, etc.

You will find that there is a vast variation of prices when it comes to water coolers. The price is generally determined on factors such as the type of water cooler, level of sophistication, the brand and of course who the water cooler supplier is.
