Trenches and mysteries

The fact that the ocean is as inexplorable, also makes it difficult to identify what type of life lives within these trenches and whether certain myths are real, considering that 95% of the ocean remains a mystery to man.
Anything can exist down there. Surrounding most continents are shallow seas, which cover sloping areas, also known as continental shelves.
Beyond these continental slopes, lies a mere abyss, that contains long mountain ranges, such as seamounts and many ocean trenches, such as the popular Mariana Trench.
The Mariana Trench is till this day considered to be the deepest part of the ocean being 36,198 feet deep. Yet, there are still large parts of the ocean that remain undiscovered.
With the average depth of the ocean only measuring around 12,200 feet, it’s quite the task to get to the bottom of the Mariana Trench. There have only been a few attempts to reach the bottom of the trench, yet there wasn’t much to discover as those who dived down in submarines didn’t have time to explore the trench at all, leaving one mystery on the table, with a possible millions more hidden on the ocean floor.
