Once upon a time, water used to be free. In some sense that’s still true when looking at countries that have plenty to spare, such as the U.S. Unfortunately, that doesn’t stop the world from spending more than a $100 billion on different types bottled waters each year.
The first bottled water was sold as far back as the 1700’s, making its debut in 1760 when it was sold for therapeutic use. It all started with two companies referred to as Albany and Saratoga Springs.
It’s quite strange to think that water, something that is completely free, increases by 10% each year. One of the only places where the popularity of bottled water is still low is in Europe. Hence, some of the biggest water bottled manufacturers in the world, such as Perrier, has been present in the counties for centuries. We guess Europeans care more about global warming than anyone else does.
The U.S. drinks more bottled water than both milk and beer?
According to studies, the U.S. consumed 9 billion gallons of all kinds of bottled water which is measured at about 30 gallons per America. Tap water is nearly 560 times cheaper than bottled water, which is insane if you think of how much water they consume and how much plastic is manufactured to assist global warming. The aliens must think we’re mad.
“Don’t drink the tap waterâ€?
What a crazy thing to say, right? Even said as early as the early 2000’s and endorsed by Pepsi.
This statement was merely made to push the sales of beverages across America. This seems to get even crazier as nearly half of all bottled water is made from tap water.
Though it might seem like a more convenient option, bottled water is only an add-on to global warming. While many say humans might be the cause of their own destruction, we can definitely find a lot of sense in that.
