Constituting as one of the most incredible natural wonders of the world, Victoria falls is right up there, next to Mount Everest.
Known traditionally as “Mosi-oa-Tunyaâ€, by the people of Zambia and Zimbabwe, the Victoria falls is separated between two sharing countries, by the Zambezi River.
Seeing the Victoria Falls, some people describe it as being one of the most tranquil lagoons on earth. In the Zambezi River, however, many crocodiles and hippos tend to lurk and are ready for a kill. Besides the induced fear of the river, the Victoria falls spans over 1700 metres and is famously known as the biggest curtain of water between an average of 90 to 110 metres. It also has around 550,000 cubic metres of water. The waterfalls are preserved and have also been declared as one of the biggest National Parks at a famously known world heritage site. It allows the site to be preserved as much as possible, which protects it against commercialisation.
It is the largest waterfall in the world and is also recognised as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
Preparing to Visit the Victoria Falls
When visiting the falls, it is essential to know that the region has a flood season between the months of February to May, which induces the height of the falls with up to 400 metres, which could go as far as twice as high. During the flooding season, one is not permitted to necessarily visit the falls, as the floods make it incredibly dangerous to navigate it.
The water also sprays around without warning and packs an incredible force to them. It is visible from 50 kilometres away and serve as one of the main tourist attractions within the regions.
The Victoria Falls has an incredible set of hotels and lodges to reside in during your stay, established towns, national parks, as well as endless activities, like canoeing, kayaking, fishing and safaris.
