Are you struggling to drink sufficient water to keep your body hydrated and healthy? Know that you are not drinking water often enough but really don’t like the stuff and struggling? Never fear, help is near.
Drinking more water during the day is not really that difficult, it just depends on how you look at things.
Simple Ways to Up your Water Intake
Drink water at every new place – most of us go to various places during the course of a day/night, such as the office, someone else’s office, a restaurant, the gym, etc. One way to improve how much water you drink is to make sure that you drink a glass of water at each new place. Also remember if you are socialising with alcohol, you need to drink a glass of water for every alcoholic drink because alcohol dehydrates one.
Pair food with water – make sure that every time you eat, you have a nice large glass of water too. If you include snacks, this would mean that you are drinking at least five glasses of water per day, which is great.
Observe your skin – the skin is the largest organ in the human body, and also one of the first to show signs of dehydration. Keep an eye on your skin and take note when it feels dry and drink extra water.
Eat hydrating foods – not all of your daily water intake needs to come from drinking water; around 20% of it can be gleaned from water-rich foods such as certain fruits and veg as well as yoghurt, smoothies, salsa, and water-constituted foods such as oatmeal.
Make drinking water fun – adding fruit such as berries or citrus fruits like oranges, veggies like cucumbers, herbs like mint or spices like cinnamon will add nice flavours to your water and make you want to drink more.
