While most of us start off the morning with a nice big mug of coffee, it may not be the best thing to drink first thing in the morning according to health specialists.
The human body consists of between 60% and 70% water, but it cannot store water and loses it throughout the day via exhalation, urination, perspiration and various other methods. What many individuals do not realise is that we also lose water overnight while asleep, which is why we generally awaken with a dry mouth.
Drink Water on an Empty Stomach Immediately on Awakening
Many nutritionists and health experts recommend drinking water first thing in the morning. This is because it has an overall positive effect over your general health as well as numerous other benefits:
- Drinking water first thing in the morning contributes to the process of formation of blood and muscle cells;
- Starting your morning by drinking water will serve to cleanse your stomach and intestines, which will in turn reduce the development of many diseases;
- Drinking water first thing in the morning enables your stomach to absorb more nutrients from the food you eat;
- Water first thing in the morning will cleanse your body from toxins, leaving you healthy and your skin glowing.
Do not have breakfast immediately after drinking water but wait for at least 45 minutes before you eat or drink anything else.
Experts claim that drinking water first thing in the morning helps with diabetes, gastric problems, high blood pressure and constipation. Added to that, drinking water in the morning will give your system a kick-start and ensure that you begin your day well-hydrated.
While experts suggest starting your day off drinking four glasses of water, most of us will balk at doing that, so I say drink what you can handle, even if it is just one nice big glass of water before you have your morning caffeine injection.
