Tap running waterWhile it is true that the body needs water to survive and that without it we can become dehydrated, it is of vital importance that the water that we drink is free of contaminants, which is why it makes sense to only drink filtered water.

Drinking insufficient water and becoming dehydrated can lead to many health problems, but so can drinking water that is not free of toxins.

Both can make us very ill, and both can actually even kill us if we are not careful.

Why Should I Only Drink Filtered Water?

Drinking water that is not pure, or even using impure, toxic water for personal hygiene purposes can lead to various diseases and health conditions, diseases or infections.

Drink only pure water to avoid the following:

Arsenicosis

Arsenicosis is caused by extended exposure to arsenic in drinking water. Arsenicosis causes painfulskin lesions and can also result in lung, kidney, skin, and bladder cancer.

Cholera

Cholera is an acute bacterial infection caused by drinking water that is not pure, bad sanitation and bad personal and food hygiene. Cholera causes diarrhoea that will dehydrate you and make you even more ill, and can even lead to death if you do not rehydrate quickly.

Diarrhoea

Diarrhoea is caused by various micro-organisms including viruses, bacteria, and protozoans. When one has diarrhoea you lose water and electrolytes, which means you become dehydrated. Left untreated, and if you do not rehydrate in time, you could die.

Diarrhoea is one of the most common infections caused by drinking impure water and bad sanitation. It is a leading cause of approximately 4 BILLION cases annually, and 1.8 million (of which 1.6 million are children under5) cases end in death.

Fungal Infections

Fungal infections like athlete’s foot are caused by damp environments and can cause major foot problems.

Kidney Infections

Kidney infections are caused by a urinary tract or bladder infection that has worked its way up to the kidneys.

Trachoma

Trachoma is an eye infection that is caused bya lack of decent water and dicey environmental sanitation conditions. Children are particularly susceptible and women are more affected than men.

One way to ensure that you remain in good health and do not contract any of the above conditions is to only drink pure spring or filtered water. While some water filters are better than others, the only method of ensuring that you are drinking water that contains no impurities, including chemical traces like fluoride is to invest in a water cooler with a really good filter.

Living-Water offers bottled water coolers filled with their own Living-Water Spring Water, bottled at Source in the Wenlock range as well as a range of mains or point-of-use (POU) water coolers that are plumbed directly into you water mains and can be fitted with the Living-Water Triple Activated Carbon Filter to ensure that you get the best quality drinking water.
