What Are the Advantages of Drinking Chilled Water?Does it matter what the temperature of the water that you drink is? Some people prefer drinking cold water while others reckon that room-temperature is better and still others promote the drinking of hot water as being best. So what is really best, medically speaking?

Various studies have been done as to whether the temperature of drinking water even matters, and according to two studies, one published in the British publication, The Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, and the other carried out at the American College of Sports Medicine, chilled water is best.

According to the studies, drinking chilled water is better as the body absorbs it quicker than it does room-temperature water. It also passes through the stomach quicker and progresses to the intestines much quicker, making for far quicker rehydration.

Drinking cold water is also better for athletes, according to research undertaken at Athletes’ Performance, which showed that athletes who drink chilled water before exercising performed better and maintained their natural core body temperature for longer, decreasing fatigue and heat-related stress.

Drinking chilled water also tastes better and it feels as if it slakes one’s thirst more, which is conducive to drinking more water, which is never a bad thing as keeping one’s body fully hydrated is critical to one’s good health.

Drinking cold water before and after exercising provides one with more energy, as was exhibited during the British study mentioned above, where those who drank cold water were able to exercise for 25% longer than those who drank room-temperature water.

Tap water is not popular with most people as it really tastes bleh, which is why most individuals do not like drinking it, but that same water filtered through a mains water cooler, which removes all toxins as well as chilling it, tastes refreshing and almost as good as natural spring water.

Living-Water, London’s premier water supply company, supplies bottled water coolers that actually do dispense spring water, in the form of Living-Water Spring Water, sourced and bottled from a natural spring deep in the hills of Shropshire. Living-Water’s state-of-the-art mains water coolers fitted with their Living-Water Triple Activated Carbon Filters dispense crystal clear, chilled water that tastes almost as good as their Spring Water.
