As a matter that is quite serious and not talked about enough, water pollution is a dangerous effect that is mostly caused by humans themselves. It is a problem that can be prevented and could’ve improved far more over the years than it actually did. In fact, in some countries it might even have got worse and when there are people dying because of it or there is no more life left in the oceans, there will be no one else to blame but ourselves.
There is, however, so much we can do to prevent further pollution and save millions of species dying each day, as well as the environment. All the world needs to recover, is a little bit of comradery and a little bit of effort.
What can you do to help?
- Don’t ever throw rubbish away altogether. Look for correct waste bins. If there are not any around, you should take it home and place it in your bin. Do not throw your trash on the beach or anywhere close to water or natural habitats of animals.
- Don’t throw chemicals, paints, oils and medicines down the sink or in the toilet. This is very important. Rather take these to your local environment office so they can get rid of it for you.
- Buy environmentally safe cleaning liquids and products to use in your home or other public places which are less dangerous for the environment.
- Save water. Don’t run the tap unless you need to use water and try saving water at all costs.
- Do you use chemicals or pesticides in your garden or outside? Be sure not to overuse it as the soil can get poisoned and poison the water in the ground. Rather look for options like composting or start using organic manure instead.
There are many ways you can help stop water pollution or at least prevent some source of water from being polluted.
If all of us could help the earth more, than all of us could help ourselves more too.
