Sufficient hydration is necessary to sustain both mental health as well as physical performance in the human body, and this requires that we ensure that we have clean drinking water, as drinking water is the best way to keep one’s body healthy and hydrated.
Ensuring that you are always well-hydrated will protect your body from health issues such as depression, heart disease, fatigue, lower back pain, joint pain, attention deficit, arthritis, high cholesterol, stroke, leukaemia, brain damage, osteoporosis, hypertension, scleroderma, and many more.
The normal level of water in our bodies is around 70%, and we need to constantly drink water to maintain this balance because we lose water throughout the day via normal bodily functions.
Drinking water regularly ensures that we have:
- Enhanced Mental Clarity – A mere 2% dehydration can cause loss of concentration and short-term memory problems;
- Improved Digestion – Drinking sufficient water will help digest the food we consume as well as help it pass through the colon;
- Protected and Cushioned Joints – We need to drink water in order for our joints not to grate when moved and cushion them from blows; and
Drinking water also helps lower the risk of getting bladder cancer by up to 50% and colon cancer by around 45% according to scientists. Water is also vital in aiding the flushing of toxins from our systems as well as preventing headaches, helping with weight control, and keeps us cool.
Having too little water in the body make us dehydrated, which could lead to various problems, including a dry mouth, dry and flaky skin, difficulty in doing involved mental calculations, vomiting, and more. If the body is not rehydrated at this stage it could lead to even more problems including coma and death.
Make sure that you always drink water first thing in the morning, throughout the day and last thing at night in order to stay hydrated. If you are working or playing outside or if you are doing a physical job or taking part in sports you should drink more water.
